On this course you will be introduced to the fundamentals of printmaking, starting from creating your own designs, to marking the metal or acrylic, to printing it on paper or fabric based around around your ideas with support from the tutor. It is a two day course so you have the time to explore and experiment before creating final prints that you have developed.
During the course you will learn:
How to create and transfer a design to a plate
Ink up a plate or lino ready for printing
Use the press to produce a series of prints from your plate or lino.

How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook of your ideas for the day.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you but please bring along an A4 sketchbook and pencils and any images or ideas that inspire you. The cost of the inks are included in the fee for the course but specialist papers and plates can be bought during the course at a small cost. You can buy blank cards to print onto and bring them along on the day.
As this is a messy course so an apron is essential, avoid wearing clothes that you don't want to get dirty .

What do I need to join the course
All students are welcome on this course as no experience of the subject is needed just an interest in making your own prints.
It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another adult please ask to speak to the Curriculum Leader before you enrol.
