This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.
Do you already have a Level 2 qualification in Bookkeeping and Accounting? Then this 'AAT Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 3' course is for you.
This award is offered internationally and many candidates who complete the Level 3 award go on to complete further professional accountancy qualifications.
At Level 3, the qualification further develops the practices from Level 2 to enable candidates to record and interpret financial transactions up to and including final accounts.
**PLEASE NOTE: In order to complete the course and gain a certificate, you will need to pass two assessments.**
**PLEASE NOTE: You must register with AAT in order to take the exam and gain the certificate. You will need to pay a qualification fee (approx. £49) directly to AAT in order to register for their exams. You will need to complete registration by the third week of the course. The fee covers this qualification for a one year period. Registration provides you with access to online learning materials which will support you with your study and a monthly magazine.**
**PLEASE NOTE: As this is an accredited course, regular attendance, a high level of commitment and approximately 2-4 hours of home study per week are required of you to be successful on this course. The course involves three compulsory Saturdays from 10am - 2.30pm on Saturday 11th September, 19th March and 26th March. The Saturday sessions take place in Canterbury AEC and the last is an exam. The first takes place prior to the first evening session. Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Lin Holder
Before setting up businesses of her own, Lin’s former career has been in sales, and latterly she was a sales & marketing director for a large multi-national company, so she brings to her teaching extensive business knowledge and technical expertise.
Together with her teaching, Lin also runs her own business providing accounting, bookkeeping, training and business services to several companies which means that her practice and expertise is completely up to date.
Lin has been teaching Accounting & Bookkeeping, Payroll and ICT for 14 years and has a DTTLS teaching qualification.
How will I be taught?
The course will be taught in a relaxed but business-like atmosphere, where your individual needs are taken into consideration. Your tutor will use a variety of teaching and learning methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure that you achieve your full potential. Methods used will include taught sessions, discussion, group work, worksheets and resource books, practice papers, home study, feedback, evaluation and tracking documents.
Throughout the course, your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback on your progress towards the requirements of the qualification. The course will be formally assessed by two AAT computer-based exams. The exams will consist of a number of practical tasks.
What do I need to have with me?
Books (approx £45) – your tutor will advise you at the start of the course.
You will need a calculator (not one built into a mobile phone), a notebook, pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, highlighter and correction tape.
What can I do next?
This qualification can enable you to progress onto AAT Level 3 Accounting or other Bookkeeping or Accountancy courses. Specialist advice is available from your tutor to help you identify the best course for you.
What do I need to join the course
You need to have completed the AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 2 and the AAT Foundation Award in Accounting Software Level 2, or equivalent qualifications, together with a sound knowledge of basic bookkeeping. As this is an intensive accredited course, regular attendance, a high level of commitment and at least 2 - 4 hours of home study per week are required.
If you have gained a qualification with another provider you will need to speak to the Curriculum Leader and send evidence of your qualifications to the centre prior to enrolment, to confirm that the course is suitable for you.
This course is suitable for those employed in a bookkeeping/data processing role and who wish to further develop their bookkeeping and accounting skills and for those expected to work autonomously in carrying out bookkeeping and accounting tasks.
Please note that you should be able to follow spoken and written instructions, read handouts/activities and take part in group discussions as required.
