This Spring related course will to teach you how to observe and produce beautiful drawings of plants and berries with more complex use of colour and plants. Observational skills will be developed throughout and students will learn further techniques of drawing in coloured pencils.
The tutor for this course will guide you through:
What to look for to help you when making your drawings
Consider the composition of the image on the paper
Colour matching your palette to your plant or flower
Drawing and the use of line for accuracy
Help with the further understanding of plant biology
This is a very considered Art that can help you produce drawings to be proud of.
The sessions will be tutor led, to enable you to build your knowledge and skills in a progressive structured fashion leading to the opportunity for more self directed work as the course progresses
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress.
What do I need to have with me?
You should have an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements.
If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please have them with you at the first session.

What do I need to join the course
An interest in producing beautiful and accurate drawings of plants and flowers and have some experience in the subject.
All students are welcome on the course who are not a beginner to using watercolour paint.

Before the lesson, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click. The system is free and easy to use.
