Botanical Drawing - Watercolour

Using a variety of watercolour techniques you will spend the day learning to paint and draw accurately seasonal plants and flowers. This course is suitable for all levels and is a good introduction into colour mixing, drawing from life/observation and learning watercolour techniques. You will during the day identify the colours in the flowers and replicate these in your drawings using watercolour paint.

How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, you should have an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements.

What do I need to join the course

All students are welcome on this course who are beginners or improvers to the subject and want to produce beautiful plant drawings.
