This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.

How to create tasty pizzas at home in your own kitchen. This is a morning workshop making pizza dough from scratch, cooking a tasty tomato sauce and baking pizzas in time for lunch. Because it is a live course you will be able to work alongside your tutor through each stage of the pizza making process, learning and gaining tips as you go. From mixing and kneading, to proving and shaping and finally baking, every step will be covered and at the end of the lesson you will have created a few delicious pizzas.

This course is open to complete beginners, you will be shown how to make pizza dough, tomato sauce and build and bake your pizzas. You will be sent a list of the relevant ingredients and equipment needed for the course closer to the time but you will only be using equipment most people have at home already and nothing specialist will be required.

At the end of the day students will be able to:
- Create pizza dough
- Bake 3 pizzas with different toppings
- Recall the steps needed for creating pizzas
- Recognise ingredients and equipment needed for successful pizza making

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Timothy Leek

Timothy Leek runs workshops with schools, youth centres and community groups that encourage and explore creativity through photography.
Workshops have included studio photography, digital photography, shooting on location, stop motion animation, video and portraiture. These workshops not only cover technical aspects of photography but also explore the creative side and the performative nature of the medium.
Timothy has regularly worked in collaboration with other visual artists, musicians and performance artists. He is also a part of ANIMATE ARTS COMPANY LTD a community arts company that produces and runs art workshops and projects for schools and the community.

How will I be taught?

This course will be delivered online. You will join the class from home and be able to exchange and interact with other learners as you would in the classroom (speaking and listening).

This is an online course and you will learn via Zoom. You will receive a Zoom invitation before the course and will need a personal computer or tablet to log on throughout the day.

Class sizes will be no more than six students to ensure you benefit from learning as part of a small group.

What do I need to have with me?

You will need a kitchen space and an oven, a list of the equipment and ingredients needed will be sent to you before the course begins, but won’t be anything you can’t find in the supermarket.

What do I need to join the course

Complete beginners to bread making, or learners who want to gain more confidence in their bread baking.

You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
