Are you interested in restarting Chinese Mandarin if you have you learnt some of the language in the past?
Do you want to be able to speak Chinese Mandarin at the basic level when visiting China?

- Give and receive personal information in the Chinese fashion
- Use numbers (to talk about times, distances, quantities and prices)
- Ask for use direction and travelling information
- Shop for items around the place you visit (including food)
- Discover and continue to learn new Chinese characters
- Share knowledge and experiences related to cultural aspects of China.
Grammar will be studied. You will learn to use expressions and forms appropriate to get by. You will be given small amounts of homework (1 hour max) each week to reinforce classroom learning.
How will I be taught?
The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing of Chinese characters will also be included. Pronunciation, Intonation and Chinese culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign appropriate language to your level. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Homework set will provide and opportunity for self study
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student' starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and targets will be set. This will be revisited from time to time during the course to monitor and record progress. Tutors will mark homework and give written or verbal feedback.
What do I need to have with me?
The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.
What can I do next?
