This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.
We will cover the basic crafting 'tools' and necessary habits of a writing lifestyle, with guidance on how to sustain this beyond the course.

You will receive feedback from the tutor each week, and have the opportunity to read your work to the group. A handout for each lesson will be sent to you the day before each class.

About the Tutor: Caroline Greville
Dr Caroline Greville
Caroline is an experienced Creative Writing tutor and her courses encourage writers of all abilities to try something new. Classes are informal and fun, with participants always producing work they are proud of. There are opportunities to write fiction, memoir and poetry, and Caroline helps students develop in their own areas of interest. She produces an anthology of students' work once a year, a keepsake that always sells.
Caroline holds a PhD in Creative Non-Fiction and an MA in Creative Writing (distinction). Her memoir and PhD project Badger Clan was published early in 2019. Her nature writing is also found in the Seasons anthologies for the Wildlife Trusts.
Caroline is a member of the Association of Christian Writers. Her work features in their Christmas Anthology publication. She writes devotional material for The Upper Room Bible notes (UK and Worldwide editions).
How will I be taught?
This course will be delivered online. Students will join the class from home and be able to exchange and in interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking, listening, writing in the chat box). This measure is dictated by circumstances and the course will be delivered back in the classroom as soon as possible. A stimulating and safe environment in which students will explore their own talent with a supportive attitude to each other's work. Pair and group work will be used during the course. Students should be prepared to share and discuss their original work, receiving comments and constructive feedback.Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student's starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and targets will be set. This will be revisited from time to time during the course to monitor and record progress. Tutors will mark homework and give written or verbal feedback.

An A4 file/notepad and folder for handouts. Pen/pencil.

Students will need a reasonable standard of written and spoken English and are expected to be keen readers.
This course is perfect for beginners, but will accommodate more experienced writers too
You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
