This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.
Refining, Revising, and Editing Your Creative Writing:
Finding your inner editor and enjoying the creative process of revising and refining your writing.
This course is designed to follow on from Whose Story is this? course. Students will continue to develop their writing through revising their work, exploring editing techniques, making changes, both large and small, considering the reader’s perspective and the aim of the writing. The expected outcomes are that students will:
• be able to identify who their reader might be and whether they will be able to engage with the writing, for example, if writing for children, the students will be able to shape the kind of vocabulary they use to ensure it is appropriate and comprehensible for their readers.
• be able to ‘critique’ their own writing and make necessary revisions and adjustments.
• be able to Identify what makes an effective, beginning, middle section, and ending to their narrative and then to identify any improvements that maybe required.
• complete and edit a piece of creative writing for submission to a writing competition, or to be read by a selected readership of the student’s choice.
and should also be able to constructively evaluate their own and others’ work.
