Perhaps still a novice in writing, or you may be a more competent writer who wants to try new techniques and styles? The Saturday Retreat course at the St Faith’s Centre will develop your skills and enjoyment as a writer by exploring a range writing techniques. Under the friendly guidance of the tutor you’ll be shown how to produce a variety of written pieces, poetic forms, short stories, character studies and observations that will help you to shape your own personal work.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
Explore new routes to creativity that will enhance your writing and imagination
Selectively use writing techniques to create a variety of effects
Improve your written pieces through effective revision and editing
Collaborate creatively, sharing constructive feedback with other writers in a friendly and supportive environment.
How will I be taught?
Your tutor will create a supportive environment that encourages students to evaluate their own work and to give constructive criticism of other's work. If you have a disability and think it may affect your learning in the classroom, or using any of our other services, please speak to us in confidence as soon as possible. We will discuss options with you and do our best to provide the support you need.
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. The tutor will give feedback about your progress.

What do I need to join the course
A good standard of written and spoken English is essential to fully participate in course.
This creative writing course is intended for people who have attended introductory courses or those with some prior experience of creative writing and who wish to develop these techniques to improve the ability of their writing to engage its intended readership.
