This course aims to help you to improve on your basic understanding of using a digital camera. This will involve practising techniques for different types of photography, i.e. close-up, action, low light, portrait and landscape.
This course will teach you how to use the manual and semi-automatic modes on your camera; recognising how and when to adjust apertures and shutter speeds; you will learn techniques in focusing successfully; recognise when to use different focal lengths; control ISO successfully; and introduce using flash to improve exposures.
You will also learn how to present an image ready for printing or social media. You will be set practical tasks as homework to discuss in the weekly lessons. Basic image adjustment skills are covered on this course including demonstrations using Photoshop Elements.
At the end of the course you will be able to:
1. Distinguish camera mode settings for particular photographic situations.
2. Produce a range of images for specific situations.
3. Adjust images for various print sizes and also for social networking.
4. Identify equipment needed to optimise images for different situations.
