This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners. . When it is considered safe to do so, we will be looking at moving this course from online to the Sevenoaks centre.
This drawing and painting course introduces a variety of drawing and painting media and techniques . By working from both direct observation and from photographic references and sketches, you will encounter a variety of interesting and stimulating subject matter
By the end of the course you will be able :-
to demonstrate different drawing and painting techniques
to identify and use the colour wheel to create striking visual images.
to develop an understanding of tone, light and shade and 3D effects.
to consider the elements which form effective composition.

Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Victoria Wainwright
Victoria Wainwright is a professional Artist and Illustrator specialising in pen and ink and printmaking but with a varied background in illustration techniques and briefs. She regularly undertakes commission work where illustration is a feature, and has illustrated a number of published books. Victoria's main interest is in drawing people, capturing their movement and character.
How will I be taught?
This course will be delivered online. Students will join the class from home and be able to exchange and in interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking, listening, writing in the chat box). This measure is dictated by circumstances.
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques.
What do I need to have with me?
If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements.If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.

What do I need to join the course
Everyone is welcome
Students who have completed the Improvers course or have the equivalent experience.It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.
You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
