This course is designed to teach students the basic techniques of drawing and painting and develop confidence and skills through a range of weekly tutored workshops.
Students will explore a range of exciting materials, colour creation, light and shade, as well as artistic styles, applying techniques and tips to landscape, still life and personal projects.
This course will be informative, challenging and fun.
How will I be taught?
Each workshop will commence with clear learning outcomes and usually a tutor demonstration, taking you step by step through the process.
One to one guidance and feedback is an essential part of learning and development, along with group discussions and informal critiques. You will be encouraged to keep a sketchbook/notebook and complete an individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. Later in the course there is an opportunity to explore a personal project allowing you the time to develop and interpret your own creative ideas.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
