This course will be held at St Faiths Adult Education Centre, Maidstone.

Would you like to develop drawing skills you may not have used since school or would like to further the skills you have already have? If so then this Beginners and Improvers Drawing course is for you.

The tutor will set drawing projects to get the best from you using a variety of drawing materials including pencil, charcoal and pastels. This course has a structured but relaxed learning plan which will identify your individual needs to help you reach your drawing goals.

By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Use a variety of materials to produce series of drawings
- Demonstrate your observational skills through your drawings
- Produce drawings on a variety of scales using materials appropriately
- Produce a still life drawing with appropraite tonal qualities
- Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Claudia Starbuck

Claudia Starbuck has a BA (Hons) degree in Illustration from University College Falmouth in Cornwall. She also holds a PGCE teaching qualification from University of Greenwich, specialising in art and design within the Lifelong Learning sector. She has worked as an art tutor on many exciting creative projects for children and adults. Claudia's own artwork embraces mixed media. She creates work for private clients by comission and has exhibited her own artwork in Cornwall, Kent and London.

How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your Tutor's advice on what to buy. However, you should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you
