WELCOME. THIS COURSE IS FACE TO FACE AT THE CENTRE.
Functional Skills C&G qualifications are intended for anyone wishing to develop their English. They focus on both the underpinning skills as well as the ability to apply English to different contexts.
Students will develop Speaking - Listening and Communication - this will include extended narratives and information (information may be on technical, concrete, or abstract topics), discussions, detailed explanations and presentations, all at varying lengths. These are fundamental skills that you need for your working and personal lives. You can study for the qualifications in practical ways and apply core skills to real-life situations. You will develop your reading and writing skills through topics that interest you.
Students’ progress will be reviewed regularly though ILP records.
Functional Skills qualifications are available across five levels (Entry 1 to Level 2).

Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Declan O'Keeffe
Declan started teaching almost 20 years ago because he wanted to share his knowledge with others. Teaching adults provides Declan with great job satisfaction because the students are highly motivated.
He enjoys imparting his love of the subject, enabling students to fulfil their academic potential and pursue their career goals. He has achieved a BA, MA and PGCE.

How will I be taught?
The course will be taught in a friendly but focused atmosphere, where your individual needs are
catered for. Your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles
and ensure that you achieve your full potential. Teaching and learning are carried out through formally
taught sessions, discussion, group work, and supported with role play, task sheets and resource books,
practice papers, home study, feedback and evaluation.
Students' good attendance record is important.
What do I need to bring with me?
Notebook, pens, pencils and a folder as you will be required to keep a folder of your work.
