The course is for students who have achieved up to Entry level 3 or equivalent . Students will study to speak to communicate information, ideas and opinions, adapting speech and content to take account of the listeners. students will be encouraged to engage in discussion to develop conversational skills in familiar and unfamiliar situations. Students will make progress with grammar of English in the given context. The main focus of the class will be Speaking and Listening and Reading. Your progress will be tracked though an Individual Learning Plan.
This is a virtual course and when it is considered feasible to do so, we will be looking at moving this course from online to classroom learning.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Lydia Kasera-Kwoba
Lydia Kasera-Kwoba is a qualified ESOL tutor who has worked in Adult Education for many years. With a wealth of experience in delivering to groups of all levels and nationalities, she provides in-depth learning and self-study for all learners, providing information and guidance on such topics as initial assessment, examinations and extra support.
How will I be taught?
You will work on a variety of activities as a class and in small groups or pairs. This allows the tutor to attend to individual needs as well as to direct the learning of the group as a whole. Homework will be an essential part of the course.
An individual learning plan of work (ILP) is developed between you and the tutor. You will have tutorials with your tutor when you will be able to discuss your progress.
Additionally, your work will be regularly marked by your tutor who will give you oral/written feedback.
What do I need to have with me?
Dictionary, ring binder for handouts and homework, paper and pen.
What can I do next?

What do I need to join the course
ESOL courses are available for European Union citizens and those who have lived in the UK for at least three years. Other students are also welcome upon payment of an overseas fee. However, acceptance on a Skills Plus ESOL course does not constitute an immigration sponsorship and no Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) certificate will be issued.
Before enrolling on an ESOL course you will need to complete an initial assessment. Please book an interview at your local centre.
