This course will be delivered online.
This course is a mixed level course for students who know some French, have attended some basic courses in the past and want to practise the language with speaking and listening activities.
You will benefit from exchanging face to face with a supportive tutor and others as you practise speaking and enjoy learning the language. You will build on your previous knowledge of basic key phrases, vocabulary, simple grammar and culture.

By the end of the course, successful students will be able to:
• exchange information about self, work and life
• express likes and dislikes / agreements and disagreements
• exchange information about past or future events
• speak with an improved pronunciation, accuracy and fluency

If you are willing to do extra work please ask the tutor for some homework but you are not obliged to do it.

How will I be taught?

This course will be delivered online. Students will join the class from home and be able to exchange and in interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking, listening, writing in the chat box). This measure is dictated by circumstances and the course will be delivered back in the classroom if possible.
The emphasis on this course is on listening and speaking. The lesson focus on language that is required in authentic situations. To help you develop language skills the course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. You will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play, games…).

What do I need to bring with me?

This is a course based on speaking skills. There is no course book, handouts will be provided when relevant.

What do I need to join the course

For anyone looking to improve the practical speaking and listening skills that they need to cope with day to day scenarios when travelling and socialising in France.
This course is for students with a little knowledge of the language. It will accommodate students from Beginners Plus level.
If you are unsure, please carry out our self-assessment test available on The assessment provides a score to help you chose the best course for you. If still unsure, please speak to us or to a Curriculum Leader.

You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before the start of the course, the tutor will send you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click. We will be using Zoom, the system is free, secure and easy to use.
