Do you want to speak French and build on your skills to prepare for Beginners Plus level? This French Beginners and Returners course is for you.
This course has been designed for students who are beginners and the ones that already know some words but need to gain more confidence with all the language structures and prefer to work at beginners level.
You will benefit from being in a classroom, from exchanging face to face with a supportive tutor and others as you practise speaking and enjoy learning the language. You will build on your previous knowledge of the language by reinforcing topics and grammar covered at Beginners level. You will also gain an insight into the culture.
By the end of the course successful students will be able to extend vocabulary on a selection of the following topics
* exchange information about self, family and work
* visiting restaurants, shopping, markets
* travelling and visiting tourist places
* ask for help, for repetition and check meaning of language
and to consolidate grammar studied at Beginners Level as well as improving accuracy and pronunciation.
You will be given homework to reinforce classroom learning.

How will I be taught?
This course will be delivered online. Students will join the class from home and be able to exchange and in interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking, listening, writing in the chat box). This measure is dictated by circumstances and the course will be delivered back in the classroom as soon as possible. The emphasis on this course is on listening and speaking. The lesson focus on language that is required in authentic situations. To help you develop language skills the course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. You will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play, games…). To ensure your progression, it is essential to attend on a regular basis. We also recommend that you spend 1 – 2 h each week doing private study as directed by your tutor.
With your tutor, you will monitor and record your progress on your learning plan (ILP)
What do I need to bring with me?
The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.

What do I need to join the course
For anybody who is looking to build up or reinforce the basis of the French language through practical speaking and listening skills needed to cope with day to day scenarios when travelling and socialising in French speaking countries.
This is a new course and is the ideal transition to a French Beginners Plus course.

You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
