This Guitar Beginners course establishes a foundation of both knowledge and skills required to play the guitar at a beginner level - broadly comparable to a grade Initial standard. You will learn how to read TAB and simple note values, whilst learning a repertoire of common beginner - level chords.
It concentrates on introducing melodic and chord-playing skills, contextualised through individual and ensemble performances of well-known pieces of popular music.
By the end of the course, you will have a good grasp of the fundamentals of melody playing and performing using chords.
To benefit fully from this course, students are advised to practice the exercises and pieces in their own time.
This course will be taught by Gareth Heritage. Gareth is the director of F#9 (Qualified Music Tuition), a Kent and S.E. London itinerant music school specialising in graded examination preparation. He is the guitarist and bassist for two bands currently performing across the South East, and a former examiner for Trinity College London.
Gareth has had a comprehensive career in music education, teaching in the primary, secondary and higher/further education sectors.
