This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners..
This Changing NegativeThinking course forms part of a series of sessions exploring mental health. Negative thinking and self-limiting beliefs can be very damaging, linked to low self-esteem and can prevent people from achieving their full potential and make everyday life very hard. There are a variety of therapies and simple techniques that can be applied to work with these negative beliefs and this course will explore some of these, eg. self-hypnosis, mindfulness, NLP, CBT. You will be shown the basics of some of these theories which you can use for yourself or others.
By the end of the day students should be able to:
1) Understand what negative thinking is and how it can impact on everyday life
2) understand what self hypnosis and mindfulness are
3) Identify when it is appropriate to use these techniques and gain practical experience
4) Understand other options available for changing negative thinking
The course is delivered through tutor presentations and small group discussions on reflective activities and is ideal for anybody looking to understand more about negative thinking and low self-esteem for your own benefit, if you are supporting friends or family members or for those working in the health field supporting others. It will help you with your own thinking patterns. It is an ideal follow-on course from the previous courses linked to mental health but is also a stand-alone workshop.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Pat Whitson
Pat Whitson has been teaching adults for many years and is a highly experienced teacher of assertiveness/confidence building and mental health awareness courses. She is also a fully qualified Life Coaching practitioner and Hypnotherapist and runs The Kent College of Hypnotherapists. She has many years of working as a therapist, supporting mental health and personal development.
How will I be taught?
This course will be delivered online. Students will join the class from home and be able to exchange and interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking, listening, writing in the chat box). Some initial assessment at the start will lead to tutor presentations and small group discussions on reflective activities.
What do I need to have with me?
Notepad and pen for notes. A willingness to share your own experiences or thoughts is really helpful to move the session on but this is not a replacement for therapy session and the tutor will closely manage this element.
What can I do next?
A series of CPD courses for anybody wishing to understand mental health conditions and tools to support improvement. Ideal for anybody supporting others with negative thinking conditions. We are happy to take ideas for courses and put them on by demand if there is enough interest.
