Do you want to focus on improving your speaking skills discussing various cultural and topics and current affairs? Then this Italian Advanced online course is ideal for you!
This course is designed for advanced- level students who want to develop greater fluency and confidence.
The course focus will be on developing a deeper understanding of Italian culture and society using authentic materials (i.e. TV news, newspapers, films).
You'll improve your command of topic-related vocabulary and your ability to vary your register according to the situation. Grammar will also be revised through authentic texts.
In order to encourage active and meaningful communication, some of the topics will be agreed between students and the tutor at the beginning of the course.

Exchange views confidently on given topics
Expressing opinions using the correct tenses
Insert idiomatic expressions appropriately within your sentences
Recognise colloquial expressions appropriately
Research given topics and share them in the classroom

How will I be taught?

The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Italian culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted in the foreign language.
Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Learners will be informed about the topic of the lessons so that they can research and actively participate to the discussions. These researches are part of the homework or self study to reinforce learning.
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student's starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and targets will be set. This will be revisited from time to time during the course to monitor and record progress.
Written and oral feedback will be given during and at the end of the course.

What do I need to have with me?

There is no course book. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts.

What do I need to join the course

Students should have studied the language for approximately 350 hours or have completed up to A Level or have spent an extended period of time in the country.
For anybody who has attended one of our Advanced courses and/or is looking to develop their fluency and accuracy to a near-native level in pronunciation/intonation, choice of vocabulary, grammar as well as idiomatic/colloquial expressions. Grammar content will bridge gaps in knowledge.
