This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.
This course is held in 3 consecutive days
Do you need a crash course in Italian? Planning a holiday to Italy soon? If you are visiting Italy in the near future or want to grasp a little Italian lingo this 3 day Italian - basics .

This 6 hour course aims to give students enough essential travel phrases to get by on a visit but will remain fairly basic.

By the end of the course successful students should be able to:
- give and receive basic greetings and personal information
- order and pay for food and drink in a restaurant or cafe
- purchase items in shops asking for price, weight etc

Basic Italian grammar will be taught and students will also gain an insight into the culture.
This course will take place on three consecutive days: 10th, 11th and 12th September

How will I be taught?

The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Italian culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Homework set will provide and opportunity for self study including the use of on-line resources.
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student's starting point will be recorded on a Group Learning Plan (ILP) and targets will be set. At the end of the course you will receive an oral feedback.

What do I need to have with me?

There is no course book for this short course. photocopies will be provided. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts,
If you have a tablet feel free to use it as a classroom resource.

The appropriate follow-on course is a longer Beginners course. The tutor or the Curriculum Leader will be able to advise or check

What do I need to join the course

No previous experience or knowledge is required
For anybody who has little or no previous knowledge of Italian and wants to prepare for a trip to Italy in order to get by. Also for anybody who needs to interact with Italian speaking visitors at a basic level or who has missed the start of a longer Beginners course and wants to learn basic Italian.
