Our Yoga classes are open to anyone who would like to improve their fitness and health and enjoys group exercise classes.
This course will be delivered live online via Zoom.
This course is a mixed ability class; suitable for beginners, more experienced and advanced students. As with all Yoga classes we advise anyone with a pre-existing medical condition to seek advice from their GP before exercising.Pregnant students should not attend classes until they are at least 16 weeks pregnant., , Yoga beginners will learn basic postures, experienced and advanced yoga students will develop their practice of yoga postures, breathing and relaxation techniques. Your tutor will explain the benefits and how you can apply them to your daily life and you are encouraged to practice regularly at home., , You will need to be able to follow verbal instructions, observe and copy physical movements and use spatial awareness within a group. By the end of this course you should be able to:, • Demonstrate and hold a variety of postures using correct alignment, • Practise control of breath to assist relaxation and stamina, • Identify the benefits of Yoga practice throughout various life stages, • Link a number of postures to perform a flowing sequence, • Recount at least three ways in which exercises can benefit health and wellbeing throughout various life stages., , To assist us in providing a safe and healthy environment for you to exercise you will be asked to complete a Confidential Health Questionnaire. If you have suffered from any of the conditions listed, please check with a medical practitioner to find out whether this course is suitable for you., - Do you ever have chest pain?, - Have you had any operations or injuries in the last year?, - Do you often feel faint or dizzy?, - Are you on long term medication?, - Do you have high or low blood pressure?, - Do you have a bone or joint problem, such as Arthritis, Osteoporosis, back or knee problems? ,
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Jane Collins
Jane has been practising Yoga for over 15 years and qualified in 2012 as an Iyengar teacher after 3 years intensive training. She taught a beginners’ class in Tunbridge Wells in 2013 and has covered for other teachers. She is a school teacher and also enjoys introducing her students to the benefits of Yoga.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught by a qualified yoga instructor. Our teaching methods include demonstration, explanation, discussion and times for question and answer sessions. Your tutor will demonstrate movements and talk you through all exercises. You will be carefully observed to ensure that you are working safely. At the start of your course you will be asked to complete an Individual Learning Plan which includes your Initial Assessment of your own fitness levels and will be used by you and your tutors to reflect on and monitor your progress. Your tutor will also use this information to ensure that all of your personal goals are achieved and provide individual support where necessary. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made., You will receive feedback from your tutor.
What do I need to have with me?
Please read the following information carefully. You may be advised not to take part if you are not dressed appropriately. You will need supportive, comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement. Denim jeans, formal trousers, skirts or dresses are not suitable for this activity. Yoga is generally practiced in bare feet or socks and all movements are performed on a mat. Students need to bring a mat to work on and may wish to bring a towel. , Please bring water and avoid eating one and a half hours prior to exercising.,
