This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.
Do you want to speak more Japanese and build on your basic skills? This Japanese Beginners Plus course is for you. , You will benefit from being in a classroom, from exchanging with a supportive tutor and others as you practise speaking and enjoy learning the language. You will build on your previous knowledge of basic key phrases, vocabulary, simple grammar and culture, By the end of the course, successful students will be able to: , • exchange information about self, work and life, • express likes and dislikes / agreements and disagreements, • exchange information about past events, • describe appearance and personalities, • explain simple health problems, • make arrangements using the simple future, , You will be given homework to reinforce classroom learning.,

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Naoko Munro

Naoko is a native Japanese speaker. She has been teaching Japanese in a Japanese school for three years in England and helping teach Japanese to adults and young people for over five years. She has experience as a private tutor teaching other subjects in Japan. She has also been working as a Japanese- English translator

She creates an environment where the students are encouraged to speak Japanese and she believes that learning Japanese should be fun and enjoyable.

How will I be taught?

The emphasis on this course is on listening and speaking. The lesson focus on language that is required in authentic situations. To help you develop language skills the course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. You will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play, games…). To ensure your progression, it is essential to attend on a regular basis. We also recommend that you spend 1 – 2 hours each week doing private study as directed by your tutor, With your tutor, you will monitor and record your progress on your learning plan (ILP),

What do I need to have with me?

The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.

What can I do next?

The next appropriate follow-on course is a Japanese Beginners Plus Spring course, and after this an Intermediate course. The tutor will be able to advise or check www.kentadulteducation.co.uk.

What do I need to join the course

For anybody who is looking to improve the practical speaking and listening skills needed to cope with day to day scenarios when travelling and socialising in Japan., This course follows on from our Japanese Beginners. Students need to have completed one of our Beginners courses or have learnt basic Japanese in the past. Students should be able to use simple phrases or words such as greetings, asking for and giving personal information, asking for directions, ordering food and drink, using grammar at Beginners level., If you are unsure, please carry out our self-assessment test available on www.kentadulteducation.co.uk or in our Centres. The assessment provides a score to help you chose the best course for you. If still unsure, please speak to us or to a Curriculum Leader.,
