How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstration, instructions, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will be encouraged to look at the work of other craftspeople and artists, both contemporary and historical. Our courses are taught by qualified and experienced tutors most of whom are practising craftspeople.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring on the day: a sketchbook and pencil. Do not buy anything especially for the course before the first session as all materials are provided for the initial session. However, please bring along anything you already have that you think would be useful. For example, you can bring your own hand tools and materials such as jewellery wire and beads if desired. The tutor can advise on which tools and further materials would be beneficial and where to buy them locally and online. Additional costs, i.e. PMC, silver wire will depend on your chosen project: precious metal clay costs from £16.25. If you have any beads you may like to bring them to class and use them in your completed piece. Cubic zirconias can be purchased from the tutor to add to the clay before firing.
