The course comprises 6 classes during which we will translate as many of the stories and texts contained in book 5 of the course as we can and study the grammatical information covered in the book in greater depth. We will also take the opportunity where appropriate to study other texts illustrating the use of the language and the historical and cultural allusions.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Richard Marsden
Richard has taught for Kent Adult Education for a number of years. He has an MA (Cantab) and a BA (Hons) in Modern and Medieval Languages. His mother is French and he has family connections in France and he also knows Latin. He is a keen amateur local historian with a particular interest in the traditional buildings of Kent.
How will I be taught?
Students will translate and discuss prepared texts in class combining some individual work with pair and group work. Students should be prepared spend some time on homework, consolidating learning from the course book and preparing texts for translation. Grammar information is presented on slides which are available for students to download from the Moodle website
What do I need to have with me?
Handouts will be provided; students should be prepared to buy a course book, but it is not necessary to do this beforehand; we will discuss this during the first class. Bring writing materials.

What do I need to join the course
Anyone who has completed books 1-4 of the Cambridge Latin Course and wishes to complete the course.
