Would you like to develop your drawing skills you have not used since school or unsure of where to start but you know you want to start drawing than this course is for you. The tutor will set still life drawing projects to get the best from you using a variety of drawing materials including pencil, charcoal and pastels.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
Use a variety of materials to produce series of still life drawings
Demonstrate your observational skills through your drawings
Produce drawings on a variety of scales using materials appropriately
Produce a still life drawing with appropriate tonal qualities
Be aware of and work to relevant Health and Safety guidelines
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, you should bring an A3 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you

What do I need to join the course
All students are welcome on this course who would like to develop their drawing and observing skills whether a beginner to art or they need a refresher course.
It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Curriculum Leader before you enrol.
