This Life Drawing and Painting course will enable you to work from direct observation of an experienced model each session. You will be introduced to a range of approaches to drawing and painting the human form using a variety of media.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Make studies of the human form using a range of drawing and painting techniques;
- Produce figure studies that demonstrate an awareness of scale, perspective and proportion;
- Construct form using tone and colour;
- Draw and paint the human figure with increasing confidence and accuracy;
- Work to health and safety guidelines.
How will I be taught?
The tutor will use a combination of skills based learning as well as a more expressive approach to using mixed media. There will be demonstrations of technique and examples of other artists’ approaches to the subject being studied. You will also receive group and one to one tuition. Learners will be encouraged to discuss art and art practices and to learn from one another.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Please do not buy anything especially for the course before it starts, but bring along to the first session anything you have already that you think will be useful.
What can I do next?
A further mixed media course. If there is enough interest, we hope to be able to put on another course.
