This Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation course is suitable for anyone who is interested in exploring a Mindful approach everyday life and the practice of meditation. This course focuses on Low Intensity Mindfulness Practice. The potential benefits of Mindfulness and Meditation will be explained. After discussing the principles of Mindfulness and Meditation, you will be introduced to simple guided and unguided meditations and observed taking part in mindful activities based on sensory awareness. All participants will be expected to provide feedback during each lesson and encouraged to continue their practise outside the classroom.By the end of this course you should be able to:Identify a range of mindfulness activities.Identify ways in which mindfulness and meditation may be helpful for you.Describe some key underlying principles of mindfulness and meditation.Identify how to take this work forward if you want to.To assist us in providing a safe and healthy environment for you to exercise you will be asked to complete a Confidential Health Questionnaire. If you have suffered from any of the conditions listed, please check with a medical practitioner to find out whether this course is suitable for you if you are experiencing any of the symptoms below or if you have experienced an emotional trauma in the past 12 months..- Do you ever have chest pain?- Have you had any operations or injuries in the last year?- Do you often feel faint or dizzy?- Are you on long term medication?- Do you have high or low blood pressure?- Do you have a bone or joint problem, such as Arthritis, Osteoporosis, back or knee problems?

About the Tutor: Laura Turner
Laura is a qualified teacher of Pilates with experience of teaching in Adult Education and the private sector.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught by a qualified tutor. The course will be highly experiential and you will participate in Mindful activities and Meditation practices led by the tutor in addition to recording your thoughts and feedback in a student workbook which you are able to take home at the end of the course.
Our teaching methods include demonstration, explanation, discussion and times for question and answer sessions. You will be carefully observed to ensure that you are working safely. Throughout your course you will be asked to complete sections in your Individual Student Workbook which includes Initial Assessment of your own knowledge and will be used by you and your tutor to reflect on and monitor your progress. Your tutor will also use this information to ensure that all of your personal goals are achieved and provide individual support where necessary. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made via End of Course Evaluations.
