This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners. When it is considered safe to do so, we will be looking at moving this course from online to the Sevenoaks centre.
Oil painting and Acrylic classes for those who want to produce oil paintings or acrylic paintings that are both tutor-led and student centred . Develop your paintings skills and further your understanding of colour mixing during this course.
By the end of the course students should be able to :-
use a wide range of tonal values
devise compositions to communicate the artist’s intentions
use strategies to create pictorial space
use painting materials effectively
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Victoria Wainwright
Victoria Wainwright is a professional Artist and Illustrator specialising in pen and ink and printmaking but with a varied background in illustration techniques and briefs. She regularly undertakes commission work where illustration is a feature, and has illustrated a number of published books. Victoria's main interest is in drawing people, capturing their movement and character.
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress.Students will need to understand the potential benefit from the programme of study, read and interpret ideas, communicate responses that are clear, logical and understandable and manage your own time. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.
At the start of the course you will work with your tutor to develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to set out what you want to achieve by the end of the course. You will both monitor and assess your progress throughout the course to ensure your learning needs are being met. There are no formal exams or tests to complete on this course.
What do I need to have with me?
If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. .You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own ‘shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices.If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.

Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
