Painting for the more experienced. This course is for the intermediate and the more experienced level of painter who can work on a painting with a degree of confidence and independence. We will cover a number of topics, from Figurative to Landscape incorporated within project work which is designed to nurture the creative painter within you and to open a forum for artistic debate. There will be critiques for constructive appraisal.

About the Tutor: Liz Chapman
Liz Chapman M.A. Fine Art. Cert.Ed.
After studying at Reigate School of Art and Design, Liz worked in architectural design and draughtsmanship, before moving on to book illustration. Since 1992 she has worked part time as an Art Tutor and part time as an Artist, and spent the last 3years in the north west coast of Scotland painting landscapes.She taught initially at West Kent College (where she also achieved a Cert.Ed), then Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Adult education Centre and now Sevenoaks. Liz achieved a Masters Degree in Fine Art at Brighton University in 2004, and has exhibited nationally.
How will I be taught?
Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress. Students will need to understand the potential benefit from the programme of study, read and interpret ideas, communicate responses that are clear, logical and understandable and manage your own time. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.
What do I need to have with me?
Students need to provide their own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements - tutors will advise accordingly. Some centres have their own shops where you are able to buy some materials at competitive prices. Please bring any materials and equipment you have that may be appropriate.
What can I do next?
Our longer courses help to prepare students to apply for Access to Art and Design foundation courses or relevant Art, Craft and Design Degree courses. Enrol early as places cannot be guaranteed.
What do I need to join the course

You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
