This Pastel course is 3 relaxing evenings using pastels to draw autumnal and wintery scenes including seascapes. Learn how to mix pastels on paper, which paper and pastels create particular effects and explore the varied colours and tones which can be achieved. For beginners and intermediates, who have already have some knowledge of drawing techniques, although we will cover use of perspective, light and shade, the colour wheel, composition and proportions.

About the Tutor: Victoria Wainwright
Victoria Wainwright is a professional Artist and Illustrator specialising in pen and ink and printmaking but with a varied background in illustration techniques and briefs. She regularly undertakes commission work where illustration is a feature, and has illustrated a number of published books. Victoria's main interest is in drawing people, capturing their movement and character.

What do I need to join the course
The course will usually be a mix of confident beginners and intermediate students who have basic skills in drawing and painting. You should have sufficient skills to work on projects related to ideas you wish to pursue or those set by the tutor and you will need to be able to work under your own direction at times.
You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before the lesson, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click. The system is free and easy to use.
