Pre-Entry ESOL Work Skills and Employability

Day of week:
Delivered online
Pre Entry Level
18:00 - 20:30
14 weeks

This is a course to help you improve your English whilst also improving your Work Skills. The course is for beginners with little or no knowledge of English.
You will have a few words but communicate mainly with gestures or a translator. You will find it difficult to recognise the English alphabet, write independently or sound out the unfamiliar words when reading.
You will learn basic practical English for everyday life and for working in the UK and you will make progress with the basic grammar of English. Speaking, listening, reading and writing are all included with special emphasis on speaking and listening.

Work Skills (English) courses help you gain the skills to plan and write letters, emails and reports for work, focusing on how to formulate your written work so that it flows logically and sequentially. A Work Skills (Maths) course covers skills required at work, e.g. money-handling, percentage calculations, time management, understanding payslips and work rotas. Although the course is not assessed by an examination, ask your tutor about possible accreditation progression options.

Further information regarding the course specification can be in obtained from your tutor once you have been placed into a class.

Please note: this course will require an initial assessment and regular attendance.
