This Sewing course for beginners is designed to enable you to gain knowledge and confidence in your sewing skills and in using a sewing machine – all in an exciting, fun and informative way.
You will start with the basics of sewing – learning about different techniques, stitches, hemming, seams, zips etc to allow you to work on a project of your own – perhaps a bag, a cushion cover, apron or a simple garment for yourself or a child. The emphasis is on sewing skills rather than clothesmaking. You will also be taught how to use a sewing machine.
How will I be taught?
This course will be taught using a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, instruction, one to one guidance, and group discussions. Your tutor will encourage and advise on a 1-1 basis where necessary,
What do I need to bring with me?
A sewing kit to include large and small scissors, hand and machine needles, tape measure, pins, threads, ruler, notebook and pencil.
Please do not buy anything until you are sure the course is running.
Sewing machines are available at the centre to use.

What do I need to join the course
This course is suitable for complete beginners only plus those with limited sewing experience who would like to learn the basics again.
Please note as with all our craft courses, good manual dexterity is needed
