Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Partnership Tutor
How will I be taught?
The emphasis is on signed communication and Sign Language is used most of the time. There will be an expectation to have voices off during the lesson. A variety of teaching strategies will be used, eg. demonstration and explanation by the tutor who signs, repeated by the students, small group work and pair work, whole class exercises, videos and games and handouts to take home. Homework set will provide an opportunity for self study which is essential to pass the assessments and will include the use of on-line resources. Students will be videoed for mock exam purposes and two of the three units are videoed to meet exam requirements.
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. Each student's starting point will be recorded on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and targets will be set. This will be revisited from time to time during the course to monitor and record progress. Tutors will mark homework and give written or verbal feedback.
What do I need to have with me?
A folder for your notes, notebook/paper and pen/pencil. The assessment fees are included in the course fee. There are no set text books for this course but students may wish to buy books and CD/DVDs for home study. The tutor will advise. We advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.
What can I do next?
Students can progress to Level 3 with another provider. The tutor will advise.
