Spanish Beginners - The Basics in 3 Mornings

This course will be delivered online.
This short Spanish course is perfect to start with Spanish.
Your tutor will guide for the 3 mornings of this course. You will practice speaking, learn some vocabulary and you will put sentences together.
You will benefit from being in the virtual classroom, from exchanging face to face with a supportive tutor and others as you practise speaking and enjoy the pleasure of starting talking another language.
By the end of the course successful students should be able to
:- give and receive basic greetings and personal information
- use numbers and currency and tell the time
- order and pay for food and drink in a restaurant or cafe
- purchase items in shops asking for price, weight etc
- ask for and use directions and explanations when arriving to a new place
- request and understand basic travel information
Basic Spanish grammar will be taught and students will also gain an insight into the culture.You will be given small amounts of homework each week (max 1hr) to reinforce classroom learning.

How will I be taught?

This course will be delivered online. Students will join the class from home and be able to exchange and in interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking, listening, writing in the chat box).
The focus will be on oral communication (speaking and listening) and some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Spanish culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (role-play and games etc). Homework set will provide and opportunity for self study including the use of on-line resources.Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level.You tutor will give you feedback on your progress.

What do I need to join the course

No prior knowledge is required. For anybody who has little or no previous knowledge of Spanish. The course is for beginners who either plan to travel to a Spanish speaking country or who need to interact with Spanish speaking visitors at a basic level or who has missed the start of a longer Beginners course and wants to learn basic Spanish.
If you are unsure please carry out our self-assessment test available on or speak to a Curriculum Leader.
You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
