By the end of the course successful students should be able to:
- Communicate on a wider range of topics and be able to extract details accurately from various sources
- Obtain information from complex texts and deal with topics of a familiar/unfamiliar nature
- Making hypothesis using the conditional
- Start expressing attitudes and emotions using the subjunctive
- Start to use colloquial expressions and appropriate style of language in conversations
Grammar gaps will be covered as needed. You will be given small amounts of homework (1 hour suggested) each week to reinforce classroom learning.

Spanish Self AssessmentWho is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Ana Baker
Ana has more than 15 years’ experience in teaching languages (Spanish and English) both in the UK and abroad. Throughout her teaching career she has designed and delivered language and IT courses at various levels for a wide range of ages from primary school children to mature learners. She is an enthusiastic, motivated, qualified tutor and Psychologist with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. She is focussed and dedicated to ensuring that students reach their full potential and enjoy their learning experience
How will I be taught?
The focus will be on speaking and listening. Some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Hispanic culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (ex role-play and games). Homework set will provide an opportunity for self-study to reinforce learning.
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. You will record your starting point on your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and set targets. You will revisit regularly during the course to monitor and record your progress. Tutors will feedback orally on homework.
What do I need to have with me?
The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.
What can I do next?
The appropriate follow-on courses can be either another Spanish Intermediate Plus course or an Advanced course. The tutor will be able to advise or check www.kentadulteducation.co.uk.
We also have a comprehensive centre based and online Languages Programme with something new starting every few weeks.
What do I need to join the course
For anyone who have done Spanish to Intermediate Plus level or can converse fairly easily in most predictable situations, with the knowledge of the tenses and basic structure of the language but need fluency and conversation practice.
If you are unsure, please carry out our self-assessment test available on www.kentadulteducation.co.uk or in our Centres. The assessment provides a score to help you chose the best course for you. If still unsure, please speak to us or to a Curriculum Leader.
