This Body Tone course will be delivered live online using Zoom.

It is a low to medium impact cardio class, using resistance equipment to tone and sculpt your body and includes floor based strength and flexibility exercises. By the end of this course you should be able to:- Use basic resistance equipment safely- Perform muscle, strength and endurance exercises- Locate muscle groups- Practise cardiovascular moves- Exercise independently to music with minimal guidance- Identify specific exercises for personal use outside of the class. - Recount at least three ways in which exercises can benefit health and wellbeing throughout various life stages.

Who is the tutor?

About the Tutor: Heather Peake

Heather is a qualified fitness instructor who has experience working with students with a wide range of abilities from beginners to more experience workout enthusiasts. Heather also has a qualification in teaching Chair Based Exercise for the Frail and Elderly in addition to her Zumba Instructor Qualification.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by a qualified instructor. Teaching methods will include demonstration, explanation, discussion and times for question and answer sessions. Your tutor will demonstrate movements and talk you through all exercises. You will be carefully observed to ensure that you are working safely and be encouraged to monitor and record your progression on the course. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
Your tutor will discuss your progress with you and give you feedback. You will be encouraged to record your progress on an Individual Learning Plan.

What do I need to have with me?

You will need supportive, comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement. Denim jeans, formal trousers, skirts or dress are not suitable for this activity. You should wear shoes with a soft sole. Sandals, boots or any footwear with a high heel are not recommended. You may be advised not to take part if you are not dressed appropriately.

Students need to bring a mat to work on and may wish to bring a towel. Please bring water and avoid eating one and a half hours prior to exercising.

What do I need to join the course

No previous knowledge or experience is required.
For anyone interested in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The course has been designed for the active, older adult but is open to anyone who would like to improve their fitness and health and enjoys group exercise classes.
