Working with award winning artist, author and tutor Anne Kelly and the collections on display at the newly reopened Amelia Arts Centre and Kent Adult Education, you will be making a design for a Georgian inspired doll’s costume. Your time will be split between sketching and collecting information for your piece and making the design for it. Using the historical collections at the Amelia Scott, you will reinterpret them to make a contemporary and personal response to the work stored at the centre. A willingness to sketch and learn new drawing techniques is helpful and the course is suitable for all levels of ability and experience. You will have the opportunity to make a sample outfit (small scale) as part of the course.
The tutor Anne Kelly is an artist, and author of ‘Connected Cloth’ and ‘Textile Nature’. She plans to share with you during this short course her love of fabric and stitch.
