About the Tutor: Victoria Wainwright

Victoria Wainwright is a professional Artist and Illustrator specialising in pen and ink and printmaking but with a varied background in illustration techniques and briefs. She regularly undertakes commission work where illustration is a feature, and has illustrated a number of published books. Victoria's main interest is in drawing people, capturing their movement and character.

How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress.Students will need to understand the potential benefit from the programme of study, read and interpret ideas, communicate responses that are clear, logical and understandable and manage your own time. You will undertake critical reflection and evaluation and be motivated to develop creative skills and enhance/develop personal skills.
Through one to one guidance, group critiques and self-assessment .

What do I need to have with me?

It is important to have suitable art materials and equipment in order to benefit from this course. You will need a size 10 or 12 watercolour brush, tubes of good quality watercolour paints, a palette withwells and a bottle of masking fluid.

You should have completed one of our Beginners courses or Improvers courses or have some experience of watercolour
This course is for students who have already completed a drawing and painting or watercolour course or who have some experience using watercolour and would like to develop their skills further.
It is important to note that art courses are practical, requiring a degree of manual dexterity.

You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
