This is an online course delivered using Zoom, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners.
Our Yoga classes are open to anyone who would like to improve their fitness and health and enjoys group exercise classes. This course is a beginners class where you will learn basic postures, breathing and relaxation techniques. Your tutor will explain the benefits of Yoga and how you can apply them to your daily life and you will be encouraged to practice regularly at home. You will need to be able to follow verbal instructions, observe and copy physical movements and use spatial awareness within a group.
By the end of this course you should be able to:,
• Demonstrate and hold a variety of postures using correct alignment,
• Practise control of breath to assist relaxation and stamina,
• Identify the benefits of Yoga practice throughout various life stages,
• Link a number of postures to perform a flowing sequence,
• Recount at least three ways in which exercises can benefit health and wellbeing throughout various life stages.
Who is the tutor?
About the Tutor: Jayne Samson
The daughter of a dance teacher, Jayne trained as an exercise instructor in 2000. Her classes combine the enjoyment of dance with the benefits of exercise. Her aim is to create exercise classes that are fun, effective and suitable for every ability.
Jayne has subsequently qualified to teach exercise for the older adult, Zumba, Zumba for kids and more recently as a Yoga teacher in 2016.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught by a qualified yoga instructor. Our teaching methods include demonstration, explanation, discussion and times for question and answer sessions. Your tutor will demonstrate movements and talk you through all exercises. You will be carefully observed to ensure that you are working safely. At the start of your course you will be asked to complete an Individual Learning Plan which includes your Initial Assessment of your own fitness levels and will be used by you and your tutors to reflect on and monitor your progress. Your tutor will also use this information to ensure that all of your personal goals are achieved and provide individual support where necessary. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Your tutor will discuss your progress with you and give you feedback. You will be encouraged to record your progress on an Individual Learning Plan.
What do I need to have with me?
Please read the following information carefully. You may be advised not to take part if you are not dressed appropriately. You will need supportive, comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement. Denim jeans, formal trousers, skirts or dresses are not suitable for this activity. Yoga is generally practiced in bare feet or socks and all movements are performed on a mat. Students need to bring a mat to work on and may wish to bring a towel. , , Please bring water and avoid eating one and a half hours prior to exercising.,

What do I need to join the course
No prior knowledge or experience is required. This online Yoga class is aimed at beginners interested in exercise, keeping fit and maintaining an active, healthy lifestyle. as well as those who wish to improve their flexibility and strength.
Please take a moment to consider the list below. If you have suffered from any of the conditions listed, please check with a medical practitioner whether it is suitable for you to undertake an exercise programme and bring a referral letter from your doctor to your tutor. If you have not checked, or if it is not suitable, please do not participate in this class.
