Meet our tutors - Camille Serisier

Camille Serisier is an international artist who grew up on the beautiful east coast of Australia and showed an interest in the arts from a young age before securing scholarships to study Fine Art at the Australian National University and Drawing and Painting at the New York Studio School.

With a passion for drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media, Camille has had her work exhibited at galleries and museums across Australia. Following this she has lectured at universities and worked as a scenic painter for theatres such as Scenic Studios and Opera Australia, before coming to England to tutor with Kent Adult Education.

“I moved to England with my family in 2018 and used the relocation as an opportunity to think about what it was I really wanted to do moving forward. I realised after my studio work the thing that gave me the most pleasure was teaching and sharing my love of art with others. That was when I began working with Kent Adult Education and I love it!”

Camille thrives on watching her students lose themselves in the act of creation. She says: “I am continuously amazed and inspired by the gorgeous works people make in my classes. It fills me with joy.”

She has many favourite artists among the likes of Rembrandt, Paul Cezanne and Giorgio Morandi. One artist who inspires her is Cindy Sherman, who she says showed artists of her generation that women artists and their stories matter.

Camille has courses in Flower Painting, Drawing and Acrylic Painting in our centres in Canterbury and Broadstairs. She will also be running a series of beginners, improvers and advanced courses in Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Mixed Media from our Canterbury centre in September 2022. She says she is excited to bring her style of teaching to KAE by focussing on teaching one technical skill at a time before exploring various exercises with students to support them in developing their own style.
