How will I be taught?
Lessons will take the form of a mixture of short and long drawing exercises, brief discussions about particular artists' approaches to drawing and one-to-one teaching. The tutor will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record your goals, ideas, processes and progress.
One to one guidance, group critiques, self-assessment against individualised learning outcomes stated on the ILP.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy .You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own ‘shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you. Please do not purchase items before you know the course is running. Typical items you will need are: putty rubber, cartridge paper, and charcoal, which are available at the centre.
Please note there will be additional model fees payable on enrolment.
What can I do next?
We offer a wide range of 5wk and 10wk life drawing classes, oils and acrylics, watercolour, drawing and painting and specialist workshops at the Turner Contemporary.
