About this course
This course will explore artists from Western art history that have been inspired by a variety of cultures. The four areas of artistic influence will include that of Europe, Asia, America and Africa. Each artist will be introduced with examples demonstrating their specific choice of subject matter before going onto a more detailed study of their artworks.
The time period explored will be over the ages and will include artists such as:
Peter Paul Rubens, El Greco, Eugène Delacroix, Théodore Géricault, Johann Zoffany, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Frederic Edwin Church, Thomas Cole, Gustave Klimt, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, Michael Armitage plus other notable artists.
