About this course

This 'ECDL Extra - Level 2' course in Deal will enable you to gain a recognised qualification to demonstrate your competence in computer skills.

The course is specifically designed so that you can gain a recognised qualification, develop your IT skills and enhance your career prospects.

On the course you will cover:

- Word-processing
- Spreadsheets
- Presentations
- Productivity Using IT

You will be given a USB memory stick so that you can save the documents you have produced and then practise your skills between sessions.

**PLEASE NOTE: Access to a computer running Windows 10 and Microsoft® Office 2016 is essential if homework, practical tests and self study is to be completed. It is not a requirement for the course that you own the software. Some public areas, such as libraries, have computers with access to Windows 10 and Microsoft® Office 2016 as well.**

**PLEASE NOTE: Regular attendance, a high level of commitment and approximately 2.5 hours of home study is a requirement from you, enrolling on this course. You are advised to read the course syllabus prior to completing the initial assessment.

There is limited parking available on site but there is street parking nearby.

How will I be taught?

Your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, including one to one guidance and group critiques to support you in achieving your goals. The course will be taught in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, which will try to cater for your individual needs. Your tutor will provide feedback throughout the course.

Teaching, learning and assessment are carried out through formal taught sessions, discussion, work sheets, practice papers, home study, feedback and evaluation and externally assessed tests.

What do I need to bring with me?

A notepad, pen and a folder for keeping course materials and a USB memory stick so that you can save the documents you have produced and then practise your skills between sessions.

**Please note: If you are storing any data/images on transferrable data devices (memory sticks, portable hard drives, etc.) please make sure that you have back-up files saved elsewhere and when removing devices have followed the 'safely removing hardware' guidelines on the PC. Kent Adult Education is not responsible for any loss or damage to your personal equipment or corruption to your files whilst you are in Kent Adult Education centres and/or undertaking Kent Adult Education courses.**

What can I do next?

This course can lead to a Level 3 qualification or you may wish to further your learning on shorter courses covering areas such as pivotTables within Microsoft® Office Excel.

What do I need to join the course

Access to a computer is essential, preferably with Windows 10 and Microsoft® Office 2016. This course is for students who are looking to improve their existing computing skills or build on previous qualifications.

You will need good keyboard and mouse skills to undertake this level of study. Please note that you should be able to follow spoken and written instructions, read handouts/activities and take part in group discussions as required.
