How will I be taught?
The course will be taught in a relaxed but business-like atmosphere, where your individual needs are taken into consideration. Your tutor will use a variety of teaching and learning methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure that you achieve your full potential. Methods used will include taught sessions, discussion, group work, worksheets and resource books, practice papers, home study, feedback, evaluation and tracking documents.
Throughout the course, your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback on your progress towards the requirements of the qualification. The course will be formally assessed by two AAT computer-based exams (one for manual bookkeeping and one for computerised accounts). The exams will consist of a number of practical tasks.
What do I need to bring with me?
Book (approx £25) and optional training software package (approx £35) – your tutor will advise you at the start of the course.
You will need a calculator (not one built into a mobile phone), a notebook, pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, highlighter and correction tape. Please also bring an A4 ring binder for notes and handouts.
What can I do next?
This qualification can enable you to progress onto AAT Level 3 Accounting or other Bookkeeping or Accountancy courses. Specialist advice is available from your tutor to help you identify the best course for you.
What do I need to join the course
You need to have completed the AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 2 and the AAT Foundation Award in Accounting Software Level 2, or equivalent qualifications, together with a sound knowledge of basic bookkeeping. As this is an intensive accredited course, regular attendance, a high level of commitment and at least 2 - 4 hours of home study per week are required.
If you have gained a qualification with another provider you will need to speak to the Curriculum Leader and bring evidence of your qualifications to the centre prior to enrolment, to confirm that the course is suitable for you.
This course is suitable for those employed in a bookkeeping/data processing role and who wish to further develop their bookkeeping and accounting skills and for those expected to work autonomously in carrying out bookkeeping and accounting tasks.
Please note that you should be able to follow spoken and written instructions, read handouts/activities and take part in group discussions as required.
