About this course

This course will develop your life drawing skills. Both female and male unclothed models may be used as subject matter.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- draw more accurately from observation
- draw more expressively from observation
- make drawings of the figure in line and tone
- use a variety of drawing materials
- look at, and take inspiration from, the work and practice of a variety of artists.

There is no 'homework' for this course, but you might like to research artists and ideas referred to on the course in your own time.
There is no qualification for this course.

How will I be taught?

Tutors will use a variety of teaching methods including demonstrations, one to one guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will look at the work of contemporary and historical artists and you will keep a sketchbook/notebook and individual learning plan (ILP) to record goals, ideas, processes and progress.

What do I need to bring with me?

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy during the first session. You will need to provide your own materials. Please do not buy anything especially for the course before it starts, but if you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate, e.g. soft pencil, eraser, A3 sketchbook, please bring them along to the first session.
