Do you want to be able to use your Spanish in a range of real life situations? This Intermediate – Summer School course is for you. The course follows on from our Spanish Intermediate course. This short course will help you consolidate, expand and develop your skills at Intermediate level before moving to Intermediate Plus. You will benefit from being in a classroom, exchanging face to face with your supportive tutor and other students as you practise speaking in Spanish and enjoying learning the language.
Successful students will be able to:
• Describe (people, places, situations, events etc) using the present, past of future tense
• Give and follow specific instructions
• Express an opinion and ideas in taking part in discussions
• Make comparisons
• Listen and respond to information from a range of sources (telephone messages, news headlines/public announcements, instructions, conversations)
• Deal with emergencies, simple problems and complaints
Grammar will be expanded. You will learn to use expressions and forms appropriate to the language using present, future and some past tenses. You will be given small amounts of homework (1 hour suggested) each week to reinforce classroom learning.

How will I be taught?

The focus will be on speaking and listening. Some reading and writing will also be included. Pronunciation and Hispanic culture are an integral part of the course. The course will be conducted mainly in the foreign language. Learners will work through different activities individually, in pairs and in small groups, using a variety of learning methods and resources (ex role-play and games). Homework set will provide an opportunity for self-study to reinforce learning.
Initial assessment will be carried out at the beginning of the course to assess individual skill level. You will record your starting point on your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and set targets. You will revisit regularly during the course to monitor and record your progress. Tutors will feedback orally on homework.

What do I need to bring with me?

The course book will be discussed at the first session if appropriate. Students will need to bring a pen and paper and an A4 ring binder for handouts, although we advise students not to buy anything until after the first session.

The appropriate follow-on course is another Intermediate or an Intermediate Plus course. The tutor will be able to advise or check on our website www.kentadulteducation.co.uk.

What do I need to join the course

For anyone looking to improve the practical speaking and listening skills needed to cope with a range of real life situations more complex than those at basic Intermediate level.
Students need to either have completed one of our Intermediate courses or have studied GCSE (A/C grades) or have studied the language for approximately 150/200 hours and who can express themselves and understand most information relating to personal, work or social matters.
The course is a perfect transition to a next level Spanish Intermediate Plus starting in the Autumn.
