About this course

This course will be delivered online for now and will resume in the classroom as soon as possible. This Social Psychology course in Tunbridge Wells is a short introduction to the psychology of our Society. Psychology is the study of mind and behaviour and if you are interested in how societies and groups are formed, how they behave and what causes change or breakdown, then this is the course for you.

This course in Tunbridge Wells will give you an understanding of how psychology can be applied to society and how habits are transmitted from generation to generation. This course introduces basic sociological concepts around society and culture and incorporates a discussion of class, race and gender in society.

There is no additional work between course hours.

How will I be taught?

This course will be delivered online. Students will join the class from home and be able to exchange and in interact with other learners as they would in the classroom (speaking, listening, writing in the chat box). This measure is dictated by circumstances and the course will be delivered back in the classroom as soon as possible. Our tutors are very experienced in their field, are trained to teach adults and are committed to ensuring that students enjoy their courses with Kent Adult Education. Each tutor strives to create a relaxed and informal atmosphere where students can work at an appropriate pace. Teaching methods are varied, and incorporate many styles including group work, pair work, some individual work and in some cases self study. What do I need to bring with me?

Pen, paper and folder. We advise students not to purchase equipment, books or materials until after the first session of the course unless otherwise stated.

What do I need to join the course

Any adult with an interest in psychology, no previous knowledge or experience is required. A good understanding of English is essential. You can access the class from your computer equipped with a camera and a microphone, from a laptop (where the camera and microphone should be built-in), a tablet or a smartphone. Before each lesson, the tutor may send you by email essential lesson information/handouts for you to consult in advance, and before the class starts, the tutor will have sent you by email an invitation to join, which will be a simple weblink to click.
