Kent Adult Education is proud to celebrate the success of a vibrant and inspiring Careers Fair held at Margate Adult Education Centre on Tuesday 26 May 2026 - a day dedicated to opening doors, sparking ambition and helping KAE Future Pathways learners take confident steps towards their future.
The event brought together current learners, previous students and prospective new learners, alongside a diverse range of organisations spanning employment sectors, voluntary services and education providers. The result was an energetic, welcoming environment where possibilities felt real and achievable.
A Building Full of Opportunity
The Careers Fair transformed the entire Margate AEC building into an interactive hub of opportunity. Each room was dedicated to different organisations, giving learners the freedom to explore a wide range of pathways at their own pace.
From the RAF and CPS to EKC Broadstairs College, Kent Coast Volunteers and The Hair Station Academy, the event showcased a broad spectrum of opportunities - ensuring every learner could connect with pathways aligned to their interests, skills and ambitions.
This immersive format encouraged learners to have meaningful, one-to-one conversations with professionals, helping them gain insight into industries, entry routes and next steps.
Confidence in Action
One of the most powerful outcomes of the day was seeing learners grow in confidence as they engaged directly with employers and education providers.
Learners spoke positively about:
- Building confidence in speaking to new people
- Exploring career paths they hadn't previously considered
- Receiving practical advice on applications, courses and jobs
Feedback from learners captured the spirit of the day perfectly:
It helped me to look at different ideas for my future.
Being able to speak to people to help me have a good future.
The HMP stand was the best... I applied for a job.

Learning Through Experience
The Careers Fair wasn't just about exploring options - it was also about gaining real-world experience.
Several KAE Future Pathways trainees volunteered on the day, supporting the event by running the canteen and providing refreshments to guests. Their contribution helped create a professional and welcoming atmosphere, while also allowing them to develop key workplace skills such as:
- Customer Service
- Teamwork
- Organisation
- Communication
This hands-on involvement reflects the core of the KAE Future Pathways programme: learning by doing, building confidence and preparing for employment in a supportive environment.
A Lasting Impact
The impact of the Careers Fair extended far beyond the day itself. Learners left with:
- A greater awareness of career pathways and opportunities
- Improved confidence in engaging with employers
- Enhanced communication and employability skills
- Clearer ideas about their next steps in education, training or work
In some cases, learners took immediate action - including applying for roles and courses they discovered during the event. This proactive mindset is exactly what KAE Future Pathways aims to nurture.

Stronger Partnerships, Bright Futures
The event was equally successful for the organisations involved, many of whom praised the professionalism, organisation and engagement of learners and staff.
Feedback from partners included:
"The young people were polite, engaging and a pleasure to support."
"The hospitality and organisation... was second to none."
"We would love to attend future events."
"We would like to come back again and potentially offer workshops."
This strong response not only reflects the quality of the event but also strengthens ongoing partnerships - creating even more opportunities for learners in the future.
