You must meet the entry requirements below:
- You must be ordinary resident in the UK at the start date of the course - Ordinary resident means you live in the UK and have chosen to live here for a settled purpose
- You must be a British citizen
- You must be aged 19 or over as at the 31st August 2025 for courses in the 2025/26 academic year
- You must agree to commit to and complete an Individual Learning Plan in agreement with your course tutor
Who can join this course
ESOL courses are funded by the Department for Education (DFE).
To be eligible to enrol and attend our courses you must have lawful permission to reside in the UK and be ordinarily resident in the UK at the course start date.
Dependant on your individual circumstances, you may be required to show evidence of your residency status before you can enrol and attend courses with us.
Acceptance on a KAE Skills ESOL course does not constitute an immigration sponsorship and no Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) certificate will be issued.
Before enrolling on an ESOL course you will need to complete an initial assessment. Please book an interview at your local centre.
We make every effort to keep our prices as low as possible and therefore regret that we cannot return payments to students who withdraw from a course. When you enrol, please understand that you are agreeing to pay the total price for the whole course, including all outstanding balances should you withdraw.
You may be eligible for a discount of your course fees; this will be dependent on your individual earnings and employment status. This will be discussed with you at your interview.
Is this course for me
The course is for students who already have some basic English skills. It is not for complete beginners.
This level is suitable for learners who can already introduce themselves, describe their daily routine and their likes and dislikes. Depending on the course, you will learn to read longer texts and be able to identify the purpose of various texts. You will start to use past and future tenses and will learn to write short letters and emails. You will be able to engage in short forms of social communication
